Rooted in the Catholic tradition, Marymount invites students of all faiths to cultivate character, integrity, and compassion as they become ethical leaders and decision-makers in a values-centered environment.

The School makes time for all students to explore their spirituality at regular chapel services, all-school Masses, sacraments, retreats, and special liturgies. Marymount awakens a consciousness of social justice in our students, inspiring them to advocate for those in need, ignite action through hands-on service and philanthropic initiatives, and be agents of change in the world.

Sacraments & Special Liturgies

Catholic students prepare for and receive the Sacraments of First Communion in Class II, Reconciliation in Class III, and Confirmation in Class VIII. Every student, regardless of their faith tradition, has a special role in the celebration. Students in Classes I-VIII and their families are also invited to annual Class Masses. Upper School students have a special Mass to mark the beginning of their high school journey in Class IX, their transition to being the leaders of the School at Junior Ring Day, and the end of their journey at Baccalaureate the night before Commencement.

Retreats

Beginning in Class VII, students go off campus for a day-long or overnight retreat to reflect on their growth as individuals and as part of a class community. Students collaborate on team-building challenges and deepen their friendships as they bond as a class during these experiences.

An Inclusive Community

While we embrace our Catholic roots, Marymount encourages each student to develop and nurture her own spiritual identity while respecting those of others. Over a third of Marymount students belong to other faiths, and they routinely share their special holidays, traditions, and rituals with their classmates. Above all, Marymount is a values-centered environment where students cultivate character, integrity, and compassion as they become ethical leaders and decision-makers. Our deep commitment to social justice inspires our students to become forces for good as they effect positive change on their local and global communities.
