Celebrate special moments in time.

Sacrament of First Communion

Every spring, Catholic students in Class II celebrate the Sacrament of Communion for the first time. Students prepare for the sacrament in religious studies class. Families are welcome to join the students at Mass on this very special day that marks a sacramental milestone in the spiritual life of the student. Every student, regardless of her faith tradition, has a special role in the celebration.

Sacrament of First Reconciliation

Every spring, Catholic students in Class III celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. Students prepare for the sacrament by examining scriptural passages on the topics of God’s forgiveness, mercy, and love. The sacrament is celebrated individually by a trusted priest with a long-standing relationship with Marymount School. Every student, regardless of her faith tradition, has a special role in the celebration.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Catholic students in Class VIII are joined by their families, sponsors, and classmates in celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation. Students prepare for the sacrament in religious studies class, at a day of reflection, and through the completion of a self-designed service project. The Confirmation Mass is celebrated by a bishop and marks the student’s transition into a mature role in the Catholic Church. Every student, regardless of her faith tradition, has a special role in the celebration.

Class IX Vespers

Each fall, Class IX students, their parents, and their teachers attend an evening prayer service to celebrate the start of the Class’s journey in the Upper School. At Vespers, the community asks God to bless the Class IX students as they embark upon their high school years. The service is an opportunity for all to join together in praise, thanksgiving, and petition.

Junior Ring Day

Surrounded by their teachers and parents, Class XI gathers for a special Mass every spring in honor of Junior Ring Day. This Mass includes the distribution of Marymount class rings. This festive ritual honors the class during their time of transition to becoming the School’s student leaders in Class XII.

Baccalaureate

The evening before Commencement, Class XII students, their parents, and their teachers gather for a special Mass. This joyful celebration honors the class during their exciting time of transition. Students are commissioned to challenge, shape, and change the world and are sent out with the sacred blessing of our community.
