The Butler Scholar Program at Marymount School provides opportunities for academically gifted students with outstanding leadership potential and exemplary personal values to attend an independent, college preparatory, Catholic day school for girls. The program seeks to enrich its community by attracting a diverse student body from parochial schools and Catholic parishes in the greater metropolitan area.
In order to be eligible for the Butler Scholar test, students must be baptized Catholic or attend parochial schools. In addition, they must be nominated or approved by their school principal on the basis of their academic potential, leadership ability, and exemplary character. As this is a highly competitive process, we advise principals to approve students only if they are one of the top students of the seventh grade class. Butler Scholar candidates are nominated by their principals in the spring of seventh grade.
