On Tuesday, October 22, Class VII will travel to Fort Washington Park in Manhattan to collect scientific data about the Hudson River. This trip is part of a state-run program called "A Day In The Life Of the Hudson and Harbor," which for the past 16 years has supported thousands of students as they collectively sample the Hudson River on a single day in October. Class VII students that participate in an after school activity (including Uptown Broadway, Model Congress, and School of Rock) are expected to attend.
Class VII will spend the entire day at the river, arriving back at 97th for regular dismissal. Students will need to arrive in the gym at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the trip.
Students should bring:
Appropriate dress: old sneakers or rain boots, jeans or leggings, gloves, hat, and layers (sweatshirt, windbreaker) recommended. The weather can vary quite a bit that time of year. Expect all clothing to get dirty and wet.
A lunch and water bottle
A small bag to hold belongings
Optional: a blanket or towel to sit on
Data packets and a pencil
