Class VI Visits the Cloisters
On May 1, Class VI will visit the Met Cloisters. Students will visit authentic examples of art and architecture from medieval Europe, get a feel for the life of a medieval monk, examine sculptures from the period focusing on nobles and saints, and learn the history of The Hunt of the Unicorn tapestries. Class VI students will have regular arrival and dismissal. Students should bring a packed lunch that does not include nuts and does not require refrigeration along with a refillable water bottle to school. Students should wear their uniforms with sneakers. -

Class VII Study Tour to Boston
Plans are underway for the annual Class VII study tour to Boston. This year’s trip will take place from Wednesday, May 3, to Friday, May 5, 2023. The itinerary includes visits to Plimoth Plantation and the Grist Mill, the Boston Tea Party museum, the Old Sturbridge Village, among other sites. Please note that the permission and release form should be signed by both you and your child by Friday, February 3, 2023. -
Dismissal from Sacrament of Confirmation Rehearsal
Rehearsal for the Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 3. After lunch, Class VIII students will walk to Saint Ignatius Loyola Church for rehearsal and will be dismissed from the church at 2:55 p.m. Students who are in afterschool activities will walk back with teachers to the 97th Street campus. -

Denim Day
We are pleased to announce a Denim Day on Thursday, May 11. The suggested donation is $5; money will be collected by homeroom teachers or advisors. Denim Days support the RSHM ministries in three countries on the African continent: Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Mozambique. For the past 20 years, we have raised $20,000 per year on average to support these RSHM ministries. Our donations will support a new Life Care Centre Clinic staffed by the sisters. UMS Spring Concert
97 St building - 97th Gym - 106Upper Middle School Spring ConcertGet ready to boogie on down at the UMS spring concert "Blast to the Past" on Friday, May 12, at 9:00 a.m. at the 97th Street gym. UMS students will showcase their musical skills and talents at this exciting event, which will feature music from retro artists such as Queen, ABBA, and The Beatles. Students will be provided with a t-shirt for the performance and should wear black leggings or pants to school. Sneakers are allowed. Due to space restrictions, each family is allowed a maximum of two guests.You are also invited to watch the livestream of the performance through this link. -
After-School Volunteer Opportunity
Support a Community Fridge right here in our neighborhood! Upper Mid students and faculty/staff are invited to join Ms. Farnham by making 500 SunButter and jelly sandwiches for our friends at John Haynes Holmes Towers. On the days listed below, we will gather in the Lion's Den afterschool and set up our sandwich-making assembly line. Once we have 500 sandwiches made, they will be delivered to the Community Fridge on 92nd Street and First Avenue. Students in K-XII will celebrate Ascension Thursday Mass next Thursday, May 18, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola. Students should wear their formal spring uniform and will be seated by class with their teachers. Parents are invited to attend and will sit in pews designated for parents; limited seating is available. Doors to the church will open at 9:45 a.m. -

Class VIII students will not take the CTP5 this year to allow them to fully focus their attention on preparing for final exams. -
