Anything Goes!
This month, the Marymount Players presented their spring production of Cole Porter’s classic musical, Anything GoesAnything Goes is set aboard the ocean liner S. S. American, where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney is en route from New York to England. Her pal Billy Crocker has stowed away to be near his love, Hope Harcourt, but Hope is engaged to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner are Public Enemy #13, Moonface Martin, and his sidekick-in-crime, Erma. With the help of some elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors, and good old-fashioned blackmail, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart.

The Marymount Players welcomed their peers from Regis High School into the cast. Over the course of a three month rehearsal process, the cast honed their singing, acting, and dancing techniques under the direction of Ms. Laura Pietropinto, Choreographer, Mr. Jesse Factor, and Musical Director, Ms. Virginia Hart Pike. During rehearsals, the set/tech club prepared props, set pieces, and costume and scene changes under the guidance of their moderator, Ms. Khaliah Adams Joseph. The show ran from April 10 to 12 in the DiCapo Theatre. For the first time ever, the Marymount Players performed an ensemble tap number — it was spectacular! The Marymount Players would like to thank Mrs. Alvar, Ms. McKenzie-Hamilton, and Drama Department Chair Ms. Pietropinto-Kitt for their support!
