Class IX Met Project 2018
Class IX students each chose one work of art from The Met’s collection to visit, research, and then present to their peers. After using The Met's website, Nolen Library, and Marymount Library resources to better understand their objects and cultures, they each proposed an original project to work on in the spring. Rather than simply recreate their objects, students were asked to reimagine and recontexualize their works, while always building on the meaning of the original. With the generous support of the arts teachers, students created clothing, videos, animations, paintings, sculptures, musical compositions, and interactive devices to share with the school community and help visitors of varying age levels, needs, and experiences engage with some of the wonderful works currently on view at The Met in a whole new way.
