IV/V Uptown Broadway Presents Annie

The show must go on...line! Class IV/V Uptown Broadway was hard at work on a production of Annie when the COVID-19 pandemic closed the School. Despite not being together, the cast united virtually to perform three musical numbers from the show, including “Tomorrow,” “NYC,” and “It’s a Hard Knock Life.” Director Dano Madden says, “The kids’ ability to find joy and connection with each other in the creative space, even though we are all physically apart, was pretty miraculous. Both the teachers and the students were lifted by our time together each week.”

The cast was also treated to a special visit from actors who performed in the 2013 Broadway revival of Annie, including Lilla Crawford, Emily Rosenfeld, Brooklyn Shuck, and Clarke Thorell. The actors shared stories about being in the production, discussed life as a professional actor, and answered student questions. The event culminated in the Marymount cast sharing their work with these special guests and with their parents. A special thanks to Mr. Madden, Assistant Director Megan Schilling, Music Directors Dorothy Chan and Tamara O'Callaghan, and Choreographer Stephanie Maloney, whose brilliant video editing skills helped bring this project to fruition.
