A Violin Virtuoso in Class I
Marymount is thrilled to announce that Angelina R-P, a Class I student, was chosen to be in the prestigious Interschool Orchestras of New York! At age four, Angelina became fascinated by the violin and eagerly wanted to learn how to play. Using a purple violin that Santa brought for Christmas, Angelina began taking classes at Lucy Moses Music School when she was just five years old. When she entered Kindergarten at Marymount, she continued her instruction in our after-school instrumental program under the guidance of Amneris Puscasu.
Practicing 3-4 times a week, Angelina poured her heart and soul into the violin over the last few years. She auditioned for the highly selective Interschool Orchestra and was accepted this spring; she will begin playing with them in the fall. Angelina says, "I am excited to play in the orchestra because I like to be on stage, and I’m excited to play in the same orchestra as one of my friends." According to her teacher, Ms. Puscasu, this is a well-deserved honor: “Angelina is so talented. She worked SO hard for this amazing achievement at such a young age. We are so proud!” Brava to Angelina!
