Making an M-PACT

Every year, Class X students participate in M-PACT as their culminating project in social justice class. Each team chooses a local non-profit organization and conducts extensive research on its history, mission, programming, and finances. This spring, teams submitted pre-recorded presentations designed to rally support for their organizations. Marymount awarded the winning $10,000 grant to the Children’s Health Fund, and grants of $1,500 were awarded to Children of the City, the National Alliance on Mental Health NYC, and Tuesday’s Children.
In addition, the presentations are also submitted to the Bank of NY Mellon Wealth Management for consideration. We are proud to announce that the Howard Gilman Foundation (via BNY Mellon) has awarded $55,000 in additional grants to six different organizations advocated for by M-PACT groups from the Class of 2022. They are:
  • National Alliance on Mental Health NYC Metro (NAMI-NYC): $5,000
  • Siena House: $10,000
  • GEMS: $10,000
  • Hetrick-Martin Institute: $10,000
  • Safe Passage Project: $10,000
  • Youth Represent: $10,000
Congratulations to all of our winning teams in advocating for organizations which effect positive change in our local community!
