Dr. Deborah Birx addresses attendees in her keynote speech.

STEMxYouth Summit

On March 6, the Student Technology Leadership Team hosted the third annual STEMxYouth Summit. With this year’s virtual format, over one hundred students and teachers worldwide were able to participate. The theme was “Together Toward Tomorrow” as attendees explored new horizons in STEM, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, space-based GPS, and nano-fabrication.

Keynote speakers included Dr. Michelle Gill, Senior AI and Deep Learning Scientist in Life Sciences at NVIDIA; Gwen Johnson, Chief Software Engineer at Maidbot; Angela Hwang, former Director of Education and Outreach at Nano@Stanford, and Dr. Deborah Birx, global health expert and former White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator.

The Summit students organizers are thrilled with the success of the event this year. Grace F. ‘21 says “I am most proud of having had Dr. Deborah Birx as our closing speaker, and that we were able to double our attendance from the previous summit!”
