With the School's modified block schedule in each of its four divisions (instructional periods of 50-80 minutes in the Lower and Lower Middle Schools and 60 or 75 minutes in the Upper Middle and Upper Schools), teachers are expected to have a range of appropriate instructional practices in their repertoire and be equipped to differentiate instruction to reach a range of learning styles.

Marymount School of New York is looking for a skilled and experienced Administrative Assistant for the Upper School office.

  • Oversees the daily operation of the Upper School office, including daily attendance, phone messages, mail, routine inquiries and important messages from parents, students, and faculty.
  • Supports daily operations of Upper School, including class coverages, faculty absences, faculty due dates, grade report distribution, proofreading grade reports.
  • Provides administrative support to the Head of the Upper School and assists on special projects as assigned.
  • Provides administrative support to teachers and administrators, including the Dean of Students, Learning Specialist, and Director of Global Programs.
  • Assists the Divisional Head in the preparation of monthly mailings, Board Reports, orientation materials for students and faculty, materials for parent/teacher conferences and other events.
  • Prepares materials & nametags, reserves space and requests set up through the room booking system for Upper School events, including Student Orientation, Curriculum Night, Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences, Awards Assemblies, Parent Meetings, and Commencement.
  • Prepares all electronic mailings to parents, including grade reports and information about special events.
  • Prepares materials for and takes minutes at Divisional Faculty meetings
  • Keeps up-to-date student information and schedules.
  • Helps ensure parents update contact and emergency contact information in the database.
  • Keeps online and hard copy files up to date.
  • Keeps all emergency information in the Upper School Offices up to date and is responsible for faculty attendance at all emergency drills.
  • Makes arrangements with outside vendors supplies.
  • Provides students with bus passes and working papers.
  • Supports academic database and course enrollment
  • Support student testing needs (proctoring tests as needed)

Lower Middle School Head Teacher (Gr. 3-5) - Maternity leave position
Marymount School seeks an experienced head teacher (gr. 1-6) to lead a Lower Mid (gr. 4) homeroom for a maternity leave position from late-November 2018 through mid-March 2019. Experience teaching lower school or middle school aged children is a requirement, and ideally the candidate holds a master's degree in a specialized subject and/or in education/pedagogy. In the Lower Mid division, head teachers are the lead instructors for mathematics, language arts, and social studies, and opportunities to serve as reading group instructors may be available. With a 1:1 iPad program, all Lower Mid educators are expected to be adept at using interactive technologies for lessons, activities, and assignments. The position includes teaching language arts, social studies, and mathematics. Experience with Singapore Math and the Judith Hochman approach to expository writing a plus.
