Broaden your horizons.

Global Speakers

Each year the Marymount community hosts speakers who share their perspectives on global issues and broaden our minds about the rest of the world. Recent speakers include Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gbowee, New York Times best-selling author Mia Alvar, Pulitzer Prize winning author Jhumpa Lahiri, President of AlJazeera America Kate O'Brian, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Sheryl WuDunn, and childrens' rights activist and Free the Children co-founder Craig Kielberger.

Women in the World

Each year all Class XII students attend the Women in the World Summit at Lincoln Center. This galvanizing event brings together women and men from around the globe to share their stories, to tackle issues facing women and girls, and to honor those that are making a difference. The Summit marks a culminating moment of a Marymount education for our seniors -- young women ready to challenge, shape, and change the world hearing from people around the globe who are doing just that.

GEBG Member School

In June 2016, Marymount became a member school of Global Education Benchmarks Group (GEBG). GEBG is a consortium of schools around the country and the world dedicated to identifying specific practices in global education by collecting, analyzing, and sharing data from GEBG members, and to promoting the development of global citizens in independent schools and beyond through global curriculum, experiences, and institutional support. Membership in GEBG provides access to information from other schools about best practices in global education in terms of curriculum, experiential learning, global travel and exchange, cultivating intercultural intelligence, risk management, training, etc.

Student Tech Conference

For the last three years, Marymount's Student Technology Leadership Team has collaborated with other students around the world to present the Global Student Technology Conference. The conference is a free, virtual event that is the first student-led endeavor of its kind. It provides an international forum for the presentation, discussion, and sharing of education technology best practices and innovative approaches to digital learning. Participants from around the globe -- from the US to Cambodia to Russia to Brazil -- joined in the conversation.

WOW Student Summit

In November 2016, Marymount's Women in our World (WOW) club launched the first WOW Student Summit, a forum on the empowerment of women. Students from around the city attended this conference which featured interactive workshops and many inspiring speakers, including Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee, politicians Ruth Messinger and Christine Quinn, and filmmaker Abigail Disney. There were also many student-led forums on women in the arts, literature, and STEM, as well as engaging discussions on gender, identity, and female leadership.

RSHM Network of Schools

Over the last century, the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary established an international network of schools spanning eight countries and three continents -- a borderless community united by shared goals, values, and vision. Each year, representatives from the nineteen sister schools gather together to explore how they can better fulfill the network's mission: to foster the gift of internationality and to broaden the commitment to transformation of the world through education.
