TRYOUT Information

All students interested in trying out for a fall team must attend week one of pre-season at Eagle Hill from August 19-23. Week two of pre-season (August 26-29) is mandatory for those selected for a fall sports team during week one, so student-athletes should be prepared to attend both weeks. Tryouts for most sports will occur during the first two to three days of pre-season. Coaches will evaluate students during tryouts to determine team selections. If additional time is needed to make decisions, coaches will promptly communicate this to the student-athletes for clarity. Further tryout information can be found in the Athletic Handbook. Below is the fall tryout process by sport.

Soccer Tryouts

Students interested in soccer will be placed on either the Varsity or JV team unless the numbers exceed the cap listed in the athletic handbook.

Varsity Tennis Tryouts

Because there is only one tennis team (Varsity), there are an extremely limited number of spots, making it one of the most competitive teams to join. As a result, the tryout process will last all five days of the first week of pre-season. Please note that this is an open tryout with no guaranteed spot on the team based on the previous year’s participation.

Volleyball Tryouts

Students interested in volleyball will be placed on either the Varsity or JV team. Students not selected for the Varsity or JV team will continue to have volleyball training for the remainder of week one at Eagle Hill. Students not selected for the team of their choice have the option to join another fall sport (per availability) but MUST communicate this request to the coach or athletic director immediately after decisions are made (see information below regarding team options beyond first choice).

No tryouts required for Varsity Cross Country (both weeks of pre-season required)

Students not selected for their first-choice team have a few options:

  1. Joining the Varsity Cross Country team for the remaining pre-season days. (Week two of pre-season is mandatory)
  2. Joining another fall team for the remaining pre-season days based on availability. (Week two of pre-season is mandatory)
  3. Serving as a team manager for one of the fall teams. (Please speak with the director of athletics)
  4. For students in Classes X-XII: enrolling in a physical education class at the beginning of the fall semester. (Week two of pre-season not required) *All Class IX students must take physical education, regardless of team selection.

Please note that students cannot leave Eagle Hill before the end of week one if they are not selected for their desired team. No refunds are offered for any reason. Families may have paid for week one of pre-season, and a student may still not make the team.
