Marymount School of New York seeks a dynamic, collaborative Upper School mathematics teacher and department chair to join our faculty at the start of the 2026-27 school year. Ideal candidates should be comfortable teaching Algebra through AP Calculus BC. The Upper School Math Department Chair collaborates closely with the K–12 Department Coordinator to guide curriculum and instruction.

At Marymount, all teachers strive to balance high expectations with deep support, fostering both academic excellence and student growth. Full-time Upper School faculty also serve as academic advisors and typically moderate at least one student club or activity.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach four sections of mathematics in collaboration with a highly dynamic and supportive team.

  • Collaborate on lesson planning, assessment, grading, curriculum development, and fostering a positive math community within and beyond the department.

  • The essential functions of a department chair are to:

    • Foster a collaborative environment in which faculty work together to deliver a dynamic, innovative, and high-quality academic program

    • Provide their teams/departments with leadership, support, and organization in all aspects of teaching and learning, including curriculum, assessment, instructional design, student engagement and experience, equity and belonging, parent partnership, and professional development

Requirements

  • Master's degree in mathematics, mathematics education, or related field
  • Experience teaching high school mathematics
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Positive, flexible, and growth-oriented mindset
  • Commitment to equity and belonging in teaching practices
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and employ varied teaching strategies

Salary range: $85,000 - 120,000 annually (department chairship stipended separately)
