Welcome from the Headmistress

Marymount School of New York was built on the bold dream of our founder Mother Marie Joseph Butler: to prepare young women to challenge, shape, and change the world. By educating the whole child, Marymount invests in each student’s unique intellectual, spiritual, creative, and athletic gifts. We ensure that our students approach the world with complementary tools: an analytical mind paired with a compassionate heart; a courageous commitment to justice combined with the ability to communicate effectively; a deep spirituality coupled with the conviction to put faith into action.

Marymount empowers young women to believe in themselves and to trust their inner spark. In an intellectually rigorous and ever-evolving curriculum, students explore and experiment, create and construct, imagine and invent. Our gifted faculty creates a secure environment in which students are able to take risks, ask challenging questions, build confidence, and embrace moments of growth.

Every single child matters here at Marymount – they are seen, they are known, and they are valued for exactly who they are. In partnership with parents, we raise girls who are lifelong learners, ethical leaders, and agents of change. We hope you join us on this exciting journey.

Board of Trustees

Since 1969, Marymount School of New York has been independently incorporated under the direction of a Board of Trustees composed of parents, alumnae, members of the RSHM, and other education leaders. Marymount’s Board of Trustees ensures the School carries out its mission in all aspects of school life. The Board appoints and oversees the head of school, plans strategically for the future, and develops and stewards the School’s financial resources.
