Description
Marymount School of New York seeks a Head Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse Coach to lead our Upper School program. The ideal coach builds strong relationships with student-athletes and colleagues, creates a positive and inclusive team culture, and teaches the skills, tactics, and habits needed to compete in the AAIS/NYSAIS landscape. The season begins February 27 with tryouts and concludes on or before May 20, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the varsity program: practice design, game management, player development, and culture.
- Attend and coach all practices and games; typical weekday practices between 3:00–6:30 p.m., with occasional Saturdays as scheduled.
- Oversee daily logistics (practice/game plans, travel coordination, equipment, uniforms).
- Collaborate with and mentor assistant coaches; align staff to program standards.
- Handle admin duties: attendance, roster management, score reporting, communication with families, and team events.
- Uphold Marymount’s mission and athletics policies, and comply with AAIS/NYSAIS rules and sportsmanship standards.
- Communicate proactively with the Athletics Office regarding injuries, academic/support needs, facilities, and scheduling.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years relevant coaching experience; prior high school or collegiate playing/coaching experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to teach fundamental and advanced lacrosse skills, team systems, and in-game strategy.
- Strong organization and communication; detail-oriented and dependable.
- Commitment to equity and belonging in athletics.
- Required certifications/clearances by season start: current CPR/AED; concussion education and SafeSport (or ability to complete upon hire).
