Financial Aid FAQs

Who is eligible to apply for financial aid?

Anyone who applies for admission to Kindergarten through Class XI, who has a demonstrated financial need is eligible to apply. There is no assistance available for students in Nursery and Pre-K.

Requests for financial aid must be indicated at the time of application for admission. Students who initially enroll at Marymount without a financial aid package are eligible to apply for financial aid after two years of full-time enrollment at Marymount (Nursery and Pre-K enrollment does not count toward the two-year waiting period). Pre-existing financial needs that were not disclosed at the time of initial enrollment will not be considered when calculating grants. After the two-year waiting period, families must be able to demonstrate a significant change in financial circumstances in order to be considered for aid, and current tuition accounts must be up to date.

How do I apply for financial aid?

Prospective and currently enrolled families seeking financial assistance must complete the TADS online application by December 1. You may find the TADS’ step-by-step guide helpful as you navigate this process.

At the end of the application, you will be given instructions about submitting required supporting documents to TADS, including:

  1. a copy of last year’s IRS Form 1040 (including all schedules)
  2. a copy of last year’s W2 Forms
  3. a copy of your most recent pay stub(s)

Please note that in order for a TADS application to be considered complete, applications must receive a status of “Fair” or “Good.” To confirm the status of your application, families must reach out to TADS directly at 800-477-8237 or support@tads.com

We encourage you to share any additional information you feel is pertinent to your application that may not be fully explained by the required documentation. You may choose to attach a letter to your TADS application if you feel like it would be helpful in understanding your situation fully and accurately. We invite you to reach out to our Director of Admissions directly for a confidential conversation at any time during the process to offer guidance and clarification around your aid application.

How is financial need assessed and aid determined?

Marymount’s Financial Aid Committee assesses TADS reports and recommendations and does its best to put together financial aid packages reflective of individual families’ financial circumstances, aiming to distribute its resources to as many qualified families as possible. Awards are needs-based, and all families are expected to pay some part of the cost of Marymount’s tuition.

When will I be notified of my financial aid award?

New students will receive notification of their award with their acceptance letter. Returning students will receive notification of their award with their re-enrollment contract, which is released in February.

Is financial aid automatically renewed each year?

Families receiving financial aid must reapply each year by submitting a TADS application and supporting documentation. Marymount’s Financial Aid Committee reviews every completed application to determine if there is continued demonstrated need. As long as continued need is demonstrated and the family is current on all tuition payments, families should expect an increase in assistance proportionate to the increase in annual tuition.

What if I miss the financial aid application deadline?

Completed financial aid applications must be submitted by December 1 in order for an award to be considered. Late or incomplete applications may not be considered.

What happens if parents/guardians are divorced or separated?

The Financial Aid Committee will take into consideration the assets and obligations of natural parents, custodial parents, non-custodial parents, step-parents, and legal guardians. All such parents/guardians are required to complete separate TADS applications in order to be considered for financial aid. Marymount will only award grants to applicants/students who have completed FA forms from all applicable parents/guardians. Each parent/guardian is also required to update the Parent Profile on the online checklist.

What if a parent/guardian does not work?

Marymount expects both parents to contribute financially to their child’s education. As such, foregone potential income is deducted for possible grants if a parent voluntarily does not work. (Exceptions may apply, including medical reasons, involuntary unemployment, and maternity/paternity leaves). When submitting your TADS application, please submit in a letter explaining the reason for not working if you would like an exception to be considered.

What should I do if I have trouble completing the TADS application?

For concerns about your TADS account, login, password, or missing documents, please contact TADS directly at 800-477-8237 or support@tads.com.
