Welcome back to school! I almost have to pinch myself that it is really happening after these past six months. I hope you have had a restorative summer and are looking forward to the school year ahead.
I am so appreciative of our wonderful faculty, staff, and administration for working all summer long to open our school safely to provide our children – whether in person or remote – with the rigorous academic and inclusive social experience that defines Marymount School. Thank you to our whole community for supporting the School and adhering to health and safety measures. It indeed takes a village!
The Parents’ Association remains committed to fostering strong ties within our community and supporting the mission of our school, especially during these unpredictable times. We have a wonderful group of PA class representatives and committee chairs to help us as we re-imagine traditional activities. Our current environment offers us many opportunities to create new kinds of events and connections!
I am also happy to report that the School Store is up and running for all sorts of spirit gear. Scroll to the very bottom of the Marymount homepage under STORE or access it directly here. Orders will be fulfilled every Wednesday and mailed to you, though students at the Fifth Avenue Campus may be able to bring orders home. Due to health protocols, we will NOT be able to hold a Used Uniform Sale this fall, so please do NOT send in outgrown items for donation at this time. We are also not asking parents to walk Safety Patrol this semester due to the pandemic.
The start of a new school year is always exciting, and I hope your children are as thrilled to be back to school as mine are! Although there is uncertainty and anxiety around the new school year, I hope that by maintaining an open dialogue, upholding health protocols, and practicing flexibility, we will all come through this stronger and more resilient than ever. We will make great lemonade out of the lemons 2020 has given us!
Marymount has been such an inspiring and supportive community for us these past 12 years since Jane ’23 started in Nursery. I am honored to be entrusted with leading our parent community through this unprecedented time. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have!
I am sorry not to be able to welcome any of you, especially our new parents, in person during these opening days, but I hope you and your daughters (and sons!) enjoy them. “See” you virtually soon!
With much warmth and many thanks,
